Part-Time OD Internship Role

CMA currently employs eighteen full-time consultants, all of whom are licensed psychologists who earned their Ph.D. in either Industrial/Organizational or Clinical/Counseling Psychology.

We have an opening for a one-year internship for a Psychology Ph.D. candidate (Industrial-Organizational, Clinical/Counseling, or related) who has completed most coursework.
Responsibilities
In general, responsibilities and client contact will align with skill level. The following are typical responsibilities. The exact assignments depend on our engagements with clients and the person’s capability.
- Participate in projects under the direction of an experienced consultant (e.g., employee surveys, leadership development, develop selection system components, organizational assessment, etc.) depending on the mix of work with our clients. Will gain exposure to how multiple CMA consultants conduct projects and manage client relationships.
- Participate in individual selection and developmental assessments. Conduct role plays for the assessment of candidates for management and executive positions and provide input to other assessor.
- Collect 360° feedback data and prepare report for client.
- Support delivery of leadership development program.
- Conduct job analysis, perform technology set up and train client personnel to use selection products purchased from CMA. Provide client support after installation.
- Participate in or lead social media marketing and other projects.
- Assist with general promotion and marketing efforts.
- Prepare presentations on family business topics.
- Conduct research for consultants related to client issues.
Hours
- Flexible: 20 hours per week on average. Any single week may be heavier or lighter.
Timeframe
- Specific start date flexible.
- A one-year commitment; specific end date flexible; potential for the internship to renew for an additional year.
Supervision
- Regular supervision by a senior Ph.D. consultant.
- Project specific supervision by experienced consultant with client relationship responsibility.
- Meet with partner monthly.

Clinical Practicum

About the Job: A practicum at CMA enables clinical doctoral students to deepen their assessment and consultation skills in business environments.
Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments (primarily police officer evaluations, but also early career assessments and evaluations for missionaries); evaluation for police officer and missionary candidates include an interview and the MMPI-2, among other measures of personality, motivation, leadership, and cognitive ability
- Write integrated reports, make recommendations about hiring decisions, and create development plans based on assessment results
- Provide feedback to clients (e.g., Chiefs of Police, early career professionals, organizations)
- Research psychological assessment instruments and provide CMA and/or clients with recommendations about the strength of the instruments
- Conduct organizational analyses (i.e., review interview and/or survey data to determine areas of strength and development, and create recommendations to address areas of development)
- Develop client-ready materials
- Conduct statistical/quantitative analyses to answer critical questions for clients (e.g., “What individual factors are most closely linked with success in my organization?”)
- Develop and manage surveys (e.g., employee engagement, Board evaluations, client surveys, values audits, pre-retreat), then compile and interpret results in client-ready reports
- Consult with licensed psychologists about challenging individual clients; provide clinical lens to complement their I/O expertise
- Present to companies and professional organizations about a variety of I/O and clinical topics (e.g., emotional intelligence, conflict resolution)
- Co-facilitate retreats for teams/organizations (e.g., team-building, strategic planning)
- Develop and facilitate trainings on a variety of topics (e.g., leadership presence, customer service, feedback and communication)
