David Colarossi, MFT, Ph.D.
David Colarossi is a trusted leadership coach in Denver, known for being the person leaders call when performance is high, but something is still in the way. As Vice President and Denver Market Leader at CMA Global, David works with senior executives facing growth, change, and leadership challenges that involve people and team dynamics.
David’s consulting work spans executive coaching, leadership assessment, succession planning, and team development. As a leadership coach in Denver, he is especially valued in industries like construction, healthcare, manufacturing, and family-owned businesses, where the people dynamics are as complex as the operations. Clients rely on his rare blend of candor and compassion to challenge old habits to make real progress.
With a PhD in Counseling Psychology and a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy, David brings a grounded, research-informed approach to every engagement. Before joining CMA Global, he served as Executive Director of the Institute for Social and Emotional Intelligence. He also taught graduate-level psychology at the University of Denver and the University of Colorado Denver. David has also led leadership development for boutique consulting firms. He authored a dissertation on how to measure corporate culture, an early sign of his lifelong curiosity about how people lead and how organizations evolve.
David’s coaching style is direct, but never detached. He gives honest feedback in a way clients can hear and act on. His energy and curiosity make him easy to connect with, and his coaching often balances real accountability with humor and support. Clients often say they feel both challenged and deeply supported. With David, the goal isn’t just self-awareness. It’s about helping leaders grow through intentional choices and real behavioral change.
Outside of consulting, David brings his curiosity to a broader audience. He co-hosts a podcast with fellow CMA consultant Rob Patterson, PhD. Together, they break down psychological concepts with a dose of humor. David also runs a popular YouTube channel. There, he uses pop culture moments to teach emotional intelligence, relationship skills, and leadership psychology.
David lives in Colorado and takes full advantage of the mountains for skiing, fly fishing, trail running, and cake decorating for his kids’ birthdays. It’s a tradition his friends are “voluntarily” subjected to on social media.
