Pride Month 2022 Wrap Up

As Pride Month comes to a close, we at CMA want to thank you for the engagement and attention to you have provide to the members of the LGBTQ+ community that make up our colleagues, clients, and friends.

While we have made strides in the inclusion of LGBTQ+ workers, it is important to remember that we are not far removed from the original Stonewall protest that was the basis for the Pride we know today. The truth is, LGBTQ+ workers are still facing discrimination – with 31% of those community members surveyed in 2021 reporting that they experienced unfair treatment (such as not being hired, being fired, or being harassed at work) as a direct result of their sexual orientation or gender identity (Williams Institute, 2021).

Pride started as a protest, and while it has morphed into a celebration of the legacy and continued impact of the LGBTQ+ community, it is important to remember that the fight for inclusion and equity must persist. As we move forward out of Pride month, we encourage you to consider how your actions and the actions of your organization can help elevate and support members of the LGBTQ+ community in your workplace.
