Black History Month 2022

February is designated as Black History Month and has been recognized as a month-long celebration since President Gerald Ford’s administration in 1976. Black History Month is an opportunity for people to engage with Black histories, go beyond discussions of racism and slavery, and spotlight past, present, and future Black leaders and their accomplishments.

Every year there is a theme for Black History Month and the theme for the 2022 Black History Month celebration is “Black Health and Wellness.” The theme is a call to examine the disparities in American healthcare while acknowledging and celebrating the rich legacies of Black contributors to the advancement of western medicine and healthcare.

As group of professionals whose expertise encompasses workplace health and wellness, CMA will be spending the month of February contributing to Black History Month by putting actions behind our words and thoughtfully sharing our expertise in this space. Throughout the month of February, CMA will provide content and resources that are designed to help promote progress towards building a more diverse labor force and an inclusive working environment where all workers feel seen, heard, and valued, with a specific focus on the unique stressors and roadblocks experienced by Black employees.

Our aim as a firm is to help provide an equitable experience for all workers, regardless of industry, sector, or individual difference. During the month of February, we are executing this mission by focusing our efforts on the experience of Black workers. By elevating the experiences of those underappreciated and targeting action toward those underserved, we can create a healthier workplace where each employee has maximal opportunity for success.

Because when your Black employees thrive, your organization thrives.
