Staff Accountant

Department: Accounting & Finance
Reports to: Controller
Employment Type: Full-time

Who We Are

CMA Global is a professional services firm rooted in organizational psychology. We help leaders, teams, and organizations do their best work — and we strive to live those same principles internally. We value thoughtful work, strong relationships, inclusion, and continuous learning. Our internal teams are trusted partners to the business, not just support functions.

The Role

The Staff Accountant plays a key role in supporting the financial health and operational excellence of CMA Global. This role partners closely with the Controller and Operations team to ensure accurate accounting, smooth month-end close, and strong internal controls — while also contributing to process improvement and a positive, collaborative team culture.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys both the details of accounting and the impact of their work on people and the organization as a whole.

What You’ll Do

Core Accounting & Close

  • Prepare and post journal entries and support month-end close activities for a professional services organization.
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy through thoughtful account analysis and reconciliations (bank, credit card, prepaid, accruals, fixed assets, etc.).

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Assist with financial statements and management reporting.
  • Support project margin and variance analysis; investigate discrepancies and partner with colleagues to resolve them.

Operational & Team Support

  • Support accounts payable and expense processes, helping ensure a smooth experience for consultants and internal teams.
  • Assist with accounts receivable activities, including billing support, cash application, and AR reconciliations as needed.

Audit, Tax & Compliance

  • Compile schedules and documentation for external audits.
  • Assist with tax-related schedules and filings (e.g., use tax, property tax, income tax support) as needed.
  • Ensure work aligns with company policies, internal controls, and applicable accounting standards (GAAP).

Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in process improvement and documentation efforts, including identifying opportunities to streamline or automate workflows.
  • Contribute ideas that improve clarity, efficiency, and collaboration across Finance and Operations.

What We’re Looking For

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).

Skills & Strengths

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, basic formulas).
  • Comfort working with accounting or ERP systems.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, ask thoughtful questions, and manage details with care.

How You Show Up

  • You value accuracy, integrity, and follow-through.
  • You’re curious and open to improving how things work.
  • You’re comfortable partnering with colleagues across roles and levels.
  • You appreciate a culture that balances high standards with humanity.

Our Commitment to Inclusion

CMA Global is committed to creating a workplace where people feel respected, supported, and able to do their best work. We value diverse perspectives and experiences and are committed to inclusive practices across our organization.
